Gretchen Armbruster teaches fine art workshops on various fine art techniques at her Covington Art School and Gallery. Her workshops are suitable for students of all experience levels. Each month covers a different topic such as landscape, still life, and pastels. Classes fill up fast so reserve your easel soon!

May Workshop

The May workshop is a 4 class workshop. In the first class you will learn the techniques and art of pastels. In the last 3 classes each student will do an oil painting of their own. The cost of the workshop is $230 and all supplies are included. This fee is due by the 15th of April and after the 15th the cost is $250. Classes fill fast so reserve your easel soon. You will choose the day that you wish to come every week in May.

June Workshop

June is a 4 class workshop. In the 1st class you will paint a still life that has been set up in class. Shadow, composition, drawing and color will all be subjects learned in this lesson. In the next 3 classes each artist will paint a subject of their choice. The cost of the workshop is $230 and all supplies are included. February Workshop

Hi Artists! The March schedule is filling up, but there are still some spots remaining, so please sign up now to reserve your seat now! Please note that Mardi Gras pushed some of February's classes into March, and that affects the March schedule, as noted above. This month, we will learn tonalism, an essential part of oil painting. (Tonalism is harmonious adjustment and blending of values and color which gives sentiment, richness and artistic value to a picture.) We will do an exercise in the month's first class, and then work on a subject you select for the remaining classes. Ryan Perea's classes are on Monday & Thursday evenings, covering painting and drawing. Gretchen's classes are available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, at various times, as noted on the calendar below. Monthly class fees are $250 with all supplies included. Please note that sign-up and payment is due by February 15th, so all supplies can be ordered.

About the Workshop

Gretchen Armbruster’s instructional workshops have become popular with students of all experience levels. The workshops are usually 4 classes each month, teaching color mixing, line, composition and many techniques in oil painting. Each month covers a different topic in the first class. Landscape, still life, figure and face, and seascapes have been some of the previous subjects. In some workshops other mediums are taught, such as pastel, pen and ink, or watercolor and pencil. In the last 3 classes students will do a painting of their choice in oils.

How do I sign up?

Call Gretchen at 985-630-6295!  Note that you are not signed up until payment is received!

Pricing and Payment Methods

We accept all major credit cards, cash, or check!

All workshops are $240 and due by the 15th of the previous month.

Discount bulk workshops are available:
3 Months – $630 ($60 savings)
6 Months – $1230 ($150 savings)
12 months – $2400 ($360 savings)

Refund and Makeup Class Policy

No refunds once a workshop has been paid for and booked. You may schedule one makeup class if you have to miss a workshop due to emergency.

Makeup Workshop Policy
1. Only 1 make up per month. If you miss another the next month but have not done a makeup for the previous missed class you will not be able to make that class up.
2. Makeups are for emergencies only.
3. If you schedule a makeup then miss that makeup you forfeit the makeup.
4. If you don’t let me know that you are missing class, either by phone call, text or email, you forfeit the class. Please let me know the day before or earlier if possible. (Text is best).
These rules make it easier to manage and keep track of and make it fair to all.
